— So, like, this was when we were building our house, doing the second floor and, for some reason, I felt like making the second floor from logs. So, we had the idea but, since we aren’t professionals in that field, and we didn’t have any professional tools, it turned out that they brought the oakum to me but it was all twisted, so mushed up that it was impossible to pull it apart by hand, you couldn’t get your fingers in there. It wasn’t possible by hand. So then I recalled granny’s way of pulling fur apart with her fingers and brushes. They make similar things for the flaxing of fur. I got hold of an ordinary piece of wood which was at hand, it proved very useful but we didn’t use it again after that. These nails, y’know, have had the heads cut off them. They were nailed in with the heads and then cut off during the production. The nail was driven in with the head pointing upwards, then the head was cut off and this is what is left. We used a lot of nails but, well, we didn’t care about that.
